Ceuta, a port that has welcomed thousands of ships

Beyond our origin, our location and the type of services we offer to our clients (mostly cargo ships), the most relevant location for port agencies in Ceuta (port agencies such as Salama) —the one that gives our objective meaning— is that of the North African port of the Autonomous Community of Ceuta.

Located in front of the famous Rock of Gibraltar, Ceuta's Port is considered one of the most important ports of the world, not only for its strategic location (in the heart of the strait), but also for the high number of ships that have chosen it as a port of call throughout history.

In fact, as the chronicle of the city reports, the Portuguese were the first to demonstrate the importance of Ceuta's Port. They conquered that land around 1415, among other reasons, to make its port not only a first aid point for ships crossing the Strait, but also a strategic area to control the route and influence of the pirate ships.

Facilities and general information

Apart from being a strategic point for cargo vessels and sailing boats crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, Ceuta's Port leads the ranking for ship supply and fuel provisioning areas.

Improvement works have been carried out for more than a year in order to optimise the existing facilities and to increase the safety conditions of the venue. Ceuta's Port features an entrance (harbour mouth) of approximately three hundred metres and a depth of water that can reach 18 metres in certain areas.

Our space in the port

Although our headquarters are located in the emblematic area of Paseo de las Palmeras (in the area of Ceuta's historic centre facing the sea), we have a large warehouse in Salama close at hand from the mouth of Ceuta's Port. A warehouse where we store all the victuals requested by our clients and certain pieces and spare parts for boats in Ceuta.
