Salama bets for new technologies

What is behind a port agency like Salama? What is beyond the human team? What is the role of new technologies in an agency as ours? Although one may thing that the headquarters of an agency like Salama are full of papers and filling cabinets, the thing is that —although there are many, as in all offices—, our company is a reference in the sector for its direct connection with new technologies.

Apart from being one of the most important port agencies in Ceuta, in the Strait of Gibraltar, Salama is an authentic technological company. It is a leading company in the fuel provision of ships and in the change of crews whose headquarters are at the forefront of technology. But in what sense? Which technological equipment does our company use?

Although in Salama all the processes are computerised, the most important one —at least for our clients— is the one regarding the invoicing process. The 80% of our invoicing is issued to brokers, that is, to intermediaries who once receive our invoice, they reinvoce it to their client.

At this point we must ask ourselves, how does computing influence this process? “Our work system allows us to issue invoices really quickly, in fact, we send them the same day or the next day, a process that could take even 15 days in the past.”, has explained Salama's IT department.

New technological devices for a greater quality

Apart from this quickness for issuing invoices, Salama has a management system audited by Bureau Veritas which includes the so necessary software equipment and which registers all the privacy and safety policies and the different backup files. A work that is registered in a new server that works as a guard and which works twice faster than the previous one.

Together with this safety tool, Salama offices are equipped with an AIS COMAR SLR300N receptor, a kind of radar system which allows us to control in real time all the ships crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. What are its advantages? That this system allows us to inform of delays to our ships.
