Objective: to make the city of Ceuta a strategic cruise port of call

The Cruise Forum 2017 in Ceuta, apart from helping us update our knowledge of the sector, was a especially relevant date due to its target and aim: to make our destination a strategic cruise port of call in the world.

Celebrated last 24th of October in the central Ulises Hotel in Ceuta, the forum gathered together different subject matter experts who laid the foundations for all the actions to be taken by both local companies and the different social agents of the city in order to get the aforementioned aim.

“We do not have the opportunity to meet such interesting people in Ceuta very often, so our impression of the Cruise Forum 2017 was very positive. In Salama we are committed to the goal set, so we will work with the rest of city agents to make it a reality as soon as possible”, explained our teammates of Salama who attended the event.

A destination with its own light.

One of the conclusions of the Cruise Forum 2017 was that Ceuta is a potential cruise port of call and a strategic point located in the greatest motorway of the sea with unique facilities. Furthermore, Ceuta has benefitted from the different geopolitical conflicts registered in other traditional cruise destinations and has therefore become a new port of call for large ships.

Ceuta’s port (recently refurbished and extended to welcome larger ships) is not only a direct and comfortable access for “floating hotels” that choose Ceuta as a port of call, but it also has a perfect location for cruise ships in transit.

Among the attendants to the forum who declared to be “totally attracted by our destination” we found Transcoma executive team, an affiliate of our company of fuel for ships. In fact, Jordi Torné –CEO of Transcoma- highlighted the potential of Ceuta as a cruise destination.

Cartagena’s port into the spotlight

Cartagena (Murcia) is one of the destinations that has obtained the best results after its commitment to cruise tourism.

Cartagena’s port, with a well located harbour and an interest for positioning its maritime facilities in the national top list, has become one of the most important harbours in the European scene in record time.

The key of its success is its cooperation with local companies and with the different social actors of the city. The port offers on site translators who help and assist cruise passengers during their trips in the city; it has extended the opening hours of local shops; it has designed specific trips for cruise passengers and it has given shape to a wide tourist leisure offer. All of it with the aim of offering a full experience in the destination.
