Once again, Holland America Line chooses Ceuta for a stopover

The renowned shipping company Holland America Line will entrust our shipping agency in Ceuta once more, to dock two of its most representative cruise ships. The Shappire Princess and the Koningsdam will layover at the port of Ceuta on the 2nd and 11th of October, respectively, with more than 2,500 passengers each. Thus, this particular company once again shows its preference for both our North African port and the assistance and advice offered by Salama regarding shipping consignment issues.

In recent years, the city and our port agency in Ceuta have hosted some of the shipping company’s other flagships, like the magnificent Westerdam, the Oosterdam, and the Rotterdam. During the layovers in the Strait of Gibraltar, this leading brand in Premium/High End cruises has used our consignment services in Ceuta to offer the maximum guarantee during its routes.

Deep-draught vessels in Ceuta

The newly renovated Shappire Princess liner will dock in the city on the 2nd of October to expose its 290 metres in length and its 63 metres in height. With more than 18 decks and 1,337 cabins, it will accommodate a maximum of 2,670 passengers and 1,100 crew. On the other hand, the Koningsdam Cruise Ship, built in 2016, with 285 metres in length, 32 metres wide and with 1,179 cabins, will visit the city on the 11th of October. This cruise ship will host close to 2,650 passengers and 1,025 crew members, who will, undoubtedly, also enjoy the city’s attractions.

With the arrival of tourist liners like the Holland America Line, the city of Ceuta and the Strait of Gibraltar consolidate their importance within the national and international cruise industry. The world’s largest maritime motorway currently offers facilities unmatched by other destinations, placing it in the spotlight of the main shipping companies, also attracted by its strategic location. To this we can add the port of Ceuta’s renovation in recent years, key in facilitating easy access for deep-draught vessels.

In this framework, Salama becomes a great ally for cruise ships that choose Ceuta as a stopover location; offering varied actions such as handling of all types of documentation, mooring or provisioning.

Being a model service in the Strait of Gibraltar’s maritime sector, and with more than a century of experience on our backs, our daily goal is to offer our customers the best services possible. That's why we are currently considered one of the leaders in terms of fuel provision, crew changes, spare parts, medical assistance, stopovers, etc.
