NEWS LIST

Although there are many, and varied, actions carried out by port agencies in Ceuta, one of the most complicated is what we refer to as crew change. It is performed against the clock (either in the port or at sea) and is crucial for the ship to continue its sea route with normality and on time.

What is behind a port agency like Salama? What is beyond the human team? What is the role of new technologies in an agency as ours? Although one may thing that the headquarters of an agency like Salama are full of papers and filling cabinets, the thing is that —although there are many, as in all offices—, our company is a reference in the sector for its direct connection with new technologies.

Apart from checking that the engines operate at full capacity and ensuring that the ship has the necessary fuel for the trip, there are two elements aboard that are essential for a trip without problems, with guaranties and with the maximum safety: the radios and the radars. What is each tool used for and why are they important?

Beyond our origin, our location and the type of services we offer to our clients (mostly cargo ships), the most relevant location for port agencies in Ceuta (port agencies such as Salama) —the one that gives our objective meaning— is that of the North African port of the Autonomous Community of Ceuta.

Beyond a purely tourism issue, a historic tradition or the exoticism of a city located between two continents, speaking of Ceuta is speaking of a strategic geographic location for the maritime sector.

Although for many the 15th of June is just the halfway point of this summer month, for the maritime sector —in which we find port agencies in Ceuta such as Salama— it is a specially relevant day. The reason? The beginning of Operation Crossing the Strait (OPE) 2016, an operation that will last until the next 15th of September and which forecasts the approximate traffic of more than 500.000 people and a total of 100.000 vehicles.

After 48 Hrs under stormy weather conditions, Ceuta port re-started operations

Winds force quite better but still rough seas that dont allow pilot for boarding vessels in safety conditions.
